The presentation of the amendment in support of Kosova by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Brian Mast, confirms two very important things.
The hysteria of the enemies of Kosova and the political opponents of the acting government of KM Kurti is dismissed, that with an unfavorable statement by the Embassy or any American official, relations between Kosova and America are broken.
The importance of permanent lobbying activity in America to ensure support for state building and development is emphasized, in this case the result of the dedicated work of the association “Albanians for America” in collaboration with the well-known congressman, friend of Albanians Keith Self.
American strategic interests are forged through cooperation between the current Administration and the US Congress. This is an ongoing process that can change American policy slowly depending on the country’s long-term interests, after extensive analysis by experts and elected officials. The US Administration has room for tactical changes that nevertheless aim to adapt to the strategic ones.
The introduction of this amendment sends a clear message to the five European states that do not yet recognize Kosova that America has not given up on Kosova and that their unreasonable delay in recognizing it will not change the reality that Kosova is an eternally independent state. will be of great importance in discouraging the enemies of Kosova.
This amendment, if approved by the US Congress, would deal a severe blow to the vain dreams of Serbia and its friends to return to Kosova. Even if it is not approved, it will be of great importance in discouraging the enemies of Kosova. This is the amendment of American hope and support.
There is no doubt that America is the light and hope of Kosova and the entire Albanian nation. The role, power and importance of America are clear. But, as a country of all, our enemies can also penetrate here. To block them, we must work with America on a permanent basis.
For nearly four decades of intensive cooperation with America, Kosova has had extraordinary support, but also problems, especially with the executive branch, with some officials of different administrations. Some influenced by Serbia, others for geopolitical interests of separating Serbia from Russia, tactical ones of maintaining relative peace in the Balkans or leaving responsibility in the competences of Europe.
It is interesting that many American ambassadors who have served in Belgrade have sided with Serbia, such as Zimmerman, Eagleburger, Montgomery, Hill etc. Serbia has always found a way to influence foreign diplomats in various ways.
However, Kosova has always found a way to overcome problems with few unfair American diplomats, without being subjugated and without damaging the state. Lobbying activity through the US Congress has helped Kosova a lot. For this, for decades, the Albanian-American Civic League, led by the legends of lobbying in Washington, Joseph DioGuardi and Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi, has been distinguished.
At this crucial moment, Kosova’s leaders, President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, must courageously continue the course they have taken and maintained for almost five years. Their positions, sometimes contrary to those of the United States, must be argued respectfully and in closed meetings. They have as many facts as they want.
This is the only way to protect and build the state of Kosova. The opposition is still in the fog. They must unite with the position against Serbian aggression today, because tomorrow it will be too late. Tomorrow they will regret it.
After all, America aspires and leans towards justice. Kosova is a successful state created by America. Our strategic interests coincide with those of America. Kosova and America together forever!
