A Historic Moment for Albanian Music

Universal Edition (UE), the world’s leading music publisher based in Vienna, has now published 233 works by Albanian composer Aleksandër Peçi.

233 books by a single author are now part of the catalog of this global publishing giant — an unprecedented achievement in the history of Albanian and Balkan music.

“Why two 33?” Peçi remarks. “Beyond the Dantean symbolism of the number 33, I see it as a number of luck, a bearer of destiny. It is like a metaphysical code, a mysterious alignment between creation and fate.”

This milestone places Albanian music in a position of honor within Universal Edition, which distributes his works worldwide. It marks, for the first time in history, the integration of an Albanian composer at such scale into the universal panorama of music.

Alongside these 233 published volumes, Peçi’s digitized works now number over 1000, confirming a true and irreversible integration of Albanian creativity into the global music heritage.

“This is not only my personal achievement,” Peçi adds, “but a historic news for Albania, the Balkans, and the wider world of music. A single author, through UE, has brought 233 works to the global stage. Integration, Integration, true Integration.”
